Bobbie Irwin presented our guild with a fabulous workshop on Iridescence which she describes as “a play of colours, where the apparent colour can change with the light and the angle of view”. Creative Stitches was great!

EWG Members spent two days meeting folks at the Edmonton Creative Stitches Show this past weekend. Many stopped to chat and inquire about the Guild and picked up brochures about our classes and workshops, as well as flyers advertising our upcoming sale. Library Display

The Edmonton Weavers’ Guild has a display of members’ work at the Stanley Milner downtown Library, 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton. It will there for the month of September, and is located in the foyer beside the main entrance to the libary.           

EWG Demos

Members of the Edmonton Weavers’ Guild will be doing demonstrations at a number of venues around the Edmonton area in September. Please check them out on our “Demos” page! Come and introduce yourselves, watch weaving and spinning in progress, and try your hand at each of them.

FELTING WORKSHOP WITH MARJOLEIN DALLINGA

A great weekend felting workshop was held on July 26-28, 2014 with instructor Marjolein Dallinga (www.bloomfelt.com) from Quebec. EWG is proud to announce we are starting a new study group for felters on alternate Tuesday evenings starting this Tue July 15. We will meet at our home in Strathcona Community League at 7pm. All members are welcome! Bring you ideas and your supplies and let’s get felting!!

British Council Films

The British Council Film has put up on their website a number of videos on textiles. This one is called ‘Border Weave’ and shows production of Scottish wool in “stunning” Technicolor, using modern machinery and traditional hand-made skills.
